Over four years on Council and 12 years of civic service, I have stood for common-sense bylaws, transparent governance, and practical investments in our town.
Arnprior is where my family lives, learns, and grows. My background combines front-line education with the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board, and private sector retail management. Having worked in store management, I understand the challenges local business owners face and why a strong commercial base is vital to supporting local jobs, passionate entrepreneurs, and a thriving economy.
Before being elected to Town Council in 2022, I spent eight years serving as a citizen member on Arnprior’s Corporate Services Advisory Committee, contributing to municipal operational and policy reviews. In 2013, I brought Arnprior together with the community-focused group “What’s Up, Arnprior?”. During COVID, I organized a fundraising campaign to save the O’Brien Theatre; the $31,380 raised saved our beloved local landmark from permanent closure.
Over the last four years at the Council table, I have worked collaboratively to approve balanced annual operating and capital budgets, modernize bylaws, and champion an age-friendly, accessible community. Attending conferences and workshops, networking with municipal partners, and advocating for Arnprior in Provincial delegations has helped me to grow and I am excited to bring this experience back to Council in the fall. I have a reputation as someone who actively listens to what is important to residents, businesses, and neighbours; I work hard to bridge concerns with solutions. I respectfully ask for your vote this October.
Brought forward the motion to review and update the winter parking bylaw. Replaced rigid overnight bans with an operational model where enforcement occurs only when winter maintenance is actively underway, while establishing dedicated municipal overnight parking areas.
Brought forward the council-adopted motion directing municipal staff to prepare a comprehensive, costed service level review for winter sidewalk clearing. Awaiting this fall report to evaluate potential service increases and taxpayer costs with real operational data.
Participated in the provincial delegation that successfully secured $1,000,000 in provincial funding for Nick Smith Centre infrastructure, while directly pitching projects like the Skate Park, Cultural Night Market, and Robert Simpson Park to ministers.
Endorsed tracking all public inquiries through the Access E-11 ticket system to ensure every resident issue has a record, and supported the appointment of a dedicated Town Communications Officer to improve transparent public notices.
As Council plans for our town’s growth, these are the key community initiatives, accessibility upgrades, and infrastructure investments I will champion.
Following my notice of motion, prioritizing safe, cleared pedestrian routes connecting schools, seniors’ residences, and downtown shopping.
Upgrading municipal park restrooms to full AODA accessibility standards so local families, seniors, and visitors can enjoy outdoor recreation with dignity.
Ensuring mechanical systems and aquatic facilities remain reliable and energy-efficient for swim lessons, lane swim, and therapeutic access.
Protecting dedicated annual reserve transfers to repave local roads systematically without incurring costly commercial bank debt.
Ensuring eligible growth-related infrastructure projects are funded 100% by development charges rather than existing residential property tax bills.
Continuing modernization of the overnight winter parking bylaw to align enforcement with actual weather conditions and designate overnight staging lots.
Supporting our Economic Development Officer to attract new commercial and light industrial employers, taking the burden off residential taxpayers.
Expanding vibrant, family-friendly events that celebrate our diverse neighbours and bring foot traffic into local shops and restaurants.
Continuing proactive governance on the Public Library Board to support modern literacy, digital connectivity, and inclusive community programming.
